Life Skills and Independent Living Programme

The development of social skills is a particulary important sector, since it includes activities that take place inside the home (e.g. cooking, tidying, ironing) and in community (e.g. using public transport services). This programme also includes lessons related to managing emotions, boosting self-esteem, exercing self control etc.

Individualized goals are ste, and participants are assessed at the end of the academic year using the AAMD scale.

Traditional Bakery Products and Desserts Workshop

The members of the Morning Group are taught to make traditional products such as cakes, biscuits, and ho to follow other home-cooking recipes. The group meets weekly, and prepares the products which are used by the Bonboniere Workshop to enhance its range of offers, while other products are sold at events run by the Association (e.g. bazaarrs) snd arrangements are made with local businesses and shops.

The programme is addressed to parents and professionals working with persons with Down's Syndrome.

Technology covers any distance and builds bridges of communication. We are here to share your concerns and proposals on issues related to Down's Syndrome.

Learing Skills Development and Support Programme for Chidren Persons with Down's Syndrome

The Learing Skills Development and Support Programme for Chidren/Persons with Down's Syndrome is addressed to parents and consists of a series of seminars.

The Programme provides a basic theoretical approach towards the development of learning skills in children and persons with Down's Syndrome.

Meetings take place every 15-20 days and topics include:

    Early reading and writing
    Promoting understanding (for children who can already read and write, but need help in order to become independent readers).

Basic - General Knowledge Programme

Within the framework of this programme, participants are given the opportunity to attend lessons in music (aiming to develop a positive self-image, self confidence, and improvisation), history, religious education, geography, language and English. Furthermore, cookery classes are also take place once a week.

Basic - General Knowledge Programme

Solidarity Programme

Its aim is to address a variety of problems facing families of persons with Down's Syndrome.

Our solidarity programme aims to provide:

    support for families dealing with particular difficulties
    assistance and follow-up of problems faceong families living in Thessalonikior in the provinces
    support to persons with Down's Syndrome and their parents related to health issues
    advisory services to persons with Down's Syndrome, who are hospitalized or in an institution.


Solidarity Programme

Healthy Eating Club

Good eating habits in persons with Down's Syndrome play a decisive role in preventing various health-related risks, such as obesity and diabetes.

Aim: the adoption of a health way of life through the establishment of a daily, nutritional diet. Lessons take place every two weeks, attended by the members of our morning group.

Special Physical Education Programmes

Pottery Workshop

The Pottery Workshop organises sessions for groups and individuals.

Lessons take place once a week. Its aim is to promote verbal communication, socialization, and to deal with specific symptoms, such as hypotonia and depression. The pottery items made in this workshop are used by the Bonbomiere Workshop (see above), and sold at bazaars and other social events organized by the Association.
